July Pictures!

July 30th, 2007

Here’s a few pictures I’ve taken over the last month.

Last week we visited 3 of our students who live 30 minutes away from school. They live up in the mountains. Luckily we drove in Jen’s (English Teacher) SUV since my car would never had made it.

The first picture is the Sanchez family. They are believers and we enjoyed a great time of fellowship and prayer for her family. The boys names are Esteban, Andres and Byron.

The second picture shows the three boys being…well, boys! This is their chicken pen. They riaise chickens for eggs and meat. Like I said, they live up in the mountains. A beautiful view but very far from the main road and any stores.

Gas is very expensive in Guatemala it’s over $4.15 a gallon. Next time you’re in line at the gas station, give thanks to God that you’re not paying that! 8 gallons ended up costing me 256 quetzales(the national currency) or $34. Living in Guatemala can be very expensive when it comes to driving a car, but’s it’s just something we have to deal with.

This is one of my favorite recent pictures! I took a few of my students to the village of Santa Maria de Jesus, which is located on Agua volcano. We went to visit one of the other schools that partners with Mission Impact and this was the view on the way up. Pretty amazing!

New Jersey Servant Team in August…

July 28th, 2007

Well it’s finally happening, I’m writing a blog. Since I finally found my password, I can start writing on here :)

This will be a place where I share some funny things that happen, the ways God is at work, and a few prayer requests here and there.

Right now I am quite excited that on August 11th, a team of 12 from Cedarbrook Bible Church will be coming to Guatemala to participate in a Servant Team outreach with Mission Impact. Please pray for God’s protection on them as they travel to Guatemala. We will be spending the week putting up a false ceiling in the upstairs classrooms to drown out the sound of the rain on the tin roof. We will also be doing Bible classes with the elementary grades and visiting families in the afternoon. Oh and having a whole lot of fun back at the mission house and around Antigua. Some of my dearest friends will be on the team and so I can’t wait. Please pray for Randy, Butch, Nancy, Lindsey, Matt, Gabe, Andy, Charis, Ashley, Dale, Ben and Brittney as they get ready for a life changing journey to serve in Guatemala!

Welcome to my Blog!
