My parents are visiting us right now from California! They arrived on March 27th and will stay until the 24th of April. Needless to say, we’re all pretty excited to have them here!!

This week we’re on spring break during Semana Santa (Holy Week), so it’s nice to have some down time while the grandparents are here. We hope to get down to Copan just over the border in Honduras for a few days. There are Mayan ruins as well as a bird sanctuary there, so it’s a really neat place for sightseeing and taking photos. None of us have ever been there, so it’ll be a first for us all.

The Sprechers had a great month of March as we helped host two Mission Impact Servant Teams. Each team had a specific ministry focus. We were all so encouraged by a team made up of high school students from two Florida Christian schools. The Lord confirmed His calling on many of their lives to vocational Christian service in the future.

The adult team was from the state of Oregon and helped with many projects at the Proximos Pasos school building project. We now have a very large in-ground concrete water cistern for the new school. The other half of this church team was involved in a medical and dental outreach to the northern part of Guatemala. Gerber and Roduel Perez have a strtegic ministry in that part of the country working through the local churches.[

The Sprecher Family went to the town Central park three blocks from where we live to help welcome the King and Queen of Spain and the President of Guatemala for a visit to San Pedro las Huertas. It was fun to see all of the protocal and security that was involved. The local people showed the dignitaries some of the local produce and culture.

Just a couple of weeks earlier, President Bush made a 24 hour visit to Guatemala. We saw all of the US militray jets flying overhead that were protecting the airpsace.

Katie and Amy have just started their second year of home schooling. Even their teacher is excited about it. Amy has had some tutoring in reading by a former teacher of hers, Miss Liz.

We are busy making some plans to receive two new staff this fall. Jen will be working with Wally and Lauren at Vida y Esperanza. Dan will be ministering with Appropriate Technology with Margarito in Santa Maria.
